Yeol Jeong Gallery

Yeoljeong Gallery will present 《Rebellious Possibility》 from February 7 to March 4, 2025. Known for constructing a distinctive visual language through diverse media and experimental approaches, Park explores the fractures and contradictions embedded in contemporary society. This exhibition introduces a new body of work that further expands his ongoing inquiries.
Across media art, installation, and painting, Park has consistently challenged the logics and fixed assumptions we accept as natural—along with the structural issues and contradictions embedded within social systems. Each work reflects his questions toward reality and his persistent drive for experimentation.

Art critic Ban Ijeong notes, “Park’s work carries a texture in which eroticism and the grotesque intertwine. The term “ero-guro-nonsense”—used to describe the Showa-era Japanese sensibility where sensuality, grotesquery, and humor overlapped—aptly characterizes the aesthetic foundation of his practice. Though the non-linear representations, each with its own distinct presence, are difficult to interpret as a single cohesive narrative, their non-linear context strikes the senses immediately.”

Park Jung Hyuk is an emerging contemporary artist who has participated in numerous exhibitions and projects both in Korea and abroad. His recent paintings center on the theme of “transformation,” seeking out the potential embedded in states of change. Through this exhibition, we invite viewers to encounter the artist’s singular worldview and the "Rebellious Possibility" that shapes his practice.
